Samahita Yoga Retreats really are perfectly placed on a calm, sandy beach in the South of Koh Samui in Thailand. There are regular, short flights from Bangkok to Koh Samui’s petite airport and then it’s just under half an hour to the resort. Both the open-air yoga shala and the resort pool face the sea. It’s superb for families with kids, as you can walk straight off the resort onto a lovely beach and calm waters.Â
Samahita Yoga Retreats are an entirely unique combination of Yoga and Fitness. You could be practising cardio and specific strength training, alongside yoga poses, breath work and meditation practices. Enjoy Hatha Yoga, work on your core, using TRXs, Bosus and stability balls and get a high intensity work out or have fun with cycle. The combined focus and effort serves to highlight mental and physical stability, strength training, balance, agility, weight loss and cardio in one fully integrated health and fitness program.
Most wellness retreats and yoga centres don’t really welcome children and that sucks. If you’re travelling with a child solo or a couple who want to practice together, a little planning with us and we’ll help make it happen (note Thai babysitters don’t always speak good English but they are warm at heart). Unlike most of our yoga retreats, Samahita doesn’t claim to be luxury, it's inclusive and whether you’re travelling with kids to Thailand or not, it’s a warm hearted resort where you’ll meet a great yoga sangha. Â
We adore Samahita Yoga Retreat for a bunch of reasons and one of those is that it’s actually child friendly! Doing yoga with kids around isn’t easy. The resort is right on a gorgeous beach in the South of Koh Samui in Thailand. We can book Thai babysitters to watch over the kid’s while you practice and they even have a playground for little ones. It just means that you can relax throughout your stay and let the kids have some fun too.
The Samahita accommodation is a clean, zen style hotel block, with crisp, white linens and lots of natural light. The loft style accommodation is good for families with kids, as there is a bedroom downstairs and another on a mezzanine level. If you’re lucky you might also be able to book one of the two Deluxe suites, which can host two adults and two children. These suites are closest to the sea.
The flexible date YogaCoreCycle program is entirely unique to Samahita and offers a full mind, body, soul workout. You can join all classes on the schedule or jump in and out at your leisure. If you’re up early enough, enjoy a Silent Sunrise Cycle. This is followed up with some breath work and meditation. There might be a Vinyasa yoga class before an incredibly healthy buffet lunch. Core work will begin in the afternoon, working to improve core strength through TRX, Bosus and stability balls. Before the sun sets, there’ll be a fun cycle class, followed up by restorative yoga and a sublime, guided meditation after dinner.
You can enjoy traditional Spa treatments at the resort Spa and it’s also easy to arrange fun day trips with the kids. Practicing yoga with kids in tow is achievable, with a little help from us! (*Do note that this is not somewhere that caters for children’s yoga). If you’d prefer something sans kids and a little more luxurious, this luxury wellness sanctuary in Koh Samui might be more up your street.
Top Tip: You can add private yoga classes to improve your practice and detox elements to your schedule. Just ask and we’ll personalise this with you in mind.
