Angkor Wat was originally dedicated to the god Vishnu in the Hindu tradition. The structure represented Mount Meru, the mythical home of the Devas. By the 12^th century it changed to a Buddhist place of worship. Another popular temple, The Bayon, was built later at the end of the 12^th century, beginning of 13^th. With over hundred smiling faces, it’s a spectacular sight. The closed eyes and gentle smile of the faces are said to represent enlightenment.
