Samahita Yoga for Families
Koh Samui, Thailand
Yoga Holidays with kids in Koh Samui, Thailand
Yoga Holidays with kids are few and far between let me tell you. Before we launched Soul Sanctuaries, we were constantly in search of a decent yoga resort which deemed it ok to have children around. Samahita may not be as high end luxury as our usual offering but it’s soooo great to do a yoga class while your child is being spoilt rotten at the playroom by a Thai babysitter (you know what we mean Mums and Dads!)
Yoga holidays with kids should be inspiring for both parents and children. Here, your kids are on the beachfront and the ocean is flat and clear, set against a quiet powder sand beach. The food in the resort is healthy vegetarian cuisine with enough cacao bars to keep the young ones interested. You can practice classes daily right by the ocean and most of all, you can practice without looking over your shoulder and wondering what your little one is up too!
The accommodation is super clean with a zen like design. The only draw back is that it’s in a hotel like block. Mind you I don’t anyone is having yoga parties until midnight! If you’re looking for more exclusivity, there is a private villa in the neighboring land.
For families traveling with children, consider a yoga holiday with the kids here, it made us chill out a lot more!
Samahita is perfectly located on the less crowded, less touristy Southern coast of Thailand. It's set directly on a lovely powdering sand beach. An open Yoga Shala looks directly out to sea and the wind sweeps through during class. One of the highlights on being at Samahita is the direct access to the sea.
Why is it a Sanctuary
It's one of the only places we've come across where they embrace families with children. The owners have kids themselves and are dedicated yogi's so understand the balance of yoga and life. As parents ourselves we felt at ease and able to enjoy a peaceful class.
They do a lovely traditional Thai massage in little private rooms at the resort which we'd recommend. They also have detox on offer with closed colonics but we didn't try these at all. There's a tiny little cute wellness area which we liked to sit at and read good books, catch the healthy ambiance too.
The food was simple vegetarian cuisine, buffet style at lunchtime and lots of choice. We liked the energy bars and healthy cakes in the fridge for post yoga snacks and kids 'treats' too.
Who is it for
It's for families with young kids who want to practice daily, maybe as a husband and wife team. If you don't have kids, it's still great but chill out if a little tike is having a hissy fit. Loved the yoga vibe by the sea.
