Buddhist Retreats with Bhutanese Rinpoche in Java
We are so excited to announce that one of Bhutan’s greatest living teachers, His Eminence the 9th Neyphug Trulku Rinpoche will be visiting Indonesia in June. We’re teaming up with luxury Aman Resorts to offer you the chance to learn and meditate with him. He will be in residence at Amanjiwo at the foot of the Menorah Hills, overlooking Borobudur from 1-22nd June.
Known as one of the seven spiritual sons of the Great Terton, Pema Lingpa, Rinpoche is an extraordinarily humble and inspiring master who speaks with compassion and wisdom, interjected with gentle humour. We’ve been honored to partake in Buddhist workshops in the past and love the reminders of life’s virtues and how to act in a compassionate manner. All Rinpoche’s we had the pleasure of meeting also had a very good sense of humour so the delivery seems effortless.
“The motivation for all my activities is based on Buddha’s teaching that sangha should create a field where good karma is cultivated. Acting on this principle to generate opportunities for people to accumulate merit and to purify negative karma, Rinpoche plans to preserve and redevelop Neyphug Thegchen Tsemo Monastery for the benefit of all sentient beings.” His Eminence 9th Neyphug Trulko Rinpoche
You don’t have to be Buddhist to join these spiritual retreats, simply hold a healthy interest in meditation and Asian culture. When you book through Soul Sanctuaries your Buddhist Retreat will include a guided visit to Borobudur, the world’s largest Buddhist monument, a meditation in the 9th century Buddhist Mendut temple and a visit to ancient Hindu monument Prambanan.
Borobudur was built in Java in the 9th century as both a shrine to Lord Buddha and a place of pilgrimage and learning. Each stone tablet depicts a scene from the life of Buddha and your guide will unravel each meaning. After your visit, you’ll be taken to nearby Dagi Hill for a sumptuous Colonial style picnic on Dagi Hill, from which an amazing vista including Borobudur can be viewed. After the picnic, guests are given a set of watercolors to unleash their creativity and paint some memories.
His Eminence the 9th Neyphug Trulku Rinpoche will lead a daily morning meditation (what an amazing way to start the day!). He’ll then be available throughout the day for teachings, meditation, life coaching or even visits to Borobudur. These will be given on a donation basis only, with funds going to Rinpoche’s charitable projects in Bhutan or alternatively Amanjiwo’s projects in Indonesia.
Plus if you book your spiritual holiday with us at Soul Sanctuaries, you’re trip will cost the same price as anywhere else, but part of your payment will go directly to Rinpoche’s School for underprivileged children through our Give a Little Soul a Sanctuary Program.
Soul Sanctuaries book the accommodation and experiential part of every luxury wellness holiday and can work with partners to book International flights where required.
